How to get to the Technical University of Denmark

DTU’s main campus is located north of Copenhagen near the suburb of Lyngby, 13.5 kilometres north of Copenhagen city centre. More than 100 buildings are scattered across the 106-hectare great plain, which is divided into four quadrants.
The campus is safe and secure and a site of great natural beauty with wooded areas, inner courtyards and gardens, sports fields and a central avenue nestled in the gaps between the buildings.

With a metro and train station located above and beneath the arrival hall, fast transportation to the heart of the city is simple. Copenhagen Airport has a terminal exclusively for low-cost carriers. CPH Go is a dedicated low-cost pier currently operated by easyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air, and Transavia.

Getting around Copenhagen

The Copenhagen Metro (M1-M4) covers all of Copenhagen, running regularly, 24/7. Trains have routes through all of Copenhagen’s neighbourhoods, to the airport, and across the country. Excursions within and beyond the city to the rest of Denmark, or to the Swedish city of Malmö, are easily accessible from the Central Station.
Taxis are easy to hail on the street or at the airport, and they accept all major credit cards. All taxis are licensed and operate at fixed mileage rates. Copenhagen is easy and safe to tour both day and night.

To the City Center in a flash

Copenhagen Airport has both metro and train stations conveniently located in the arrival hall. The metro ride from Copenhagen Airport to the city centre only takes 12 minutes.
The Copenhagen metro runs every 2-4 minutes, while trains go to the Copenhagen Central Station every 10 minutes at a travel time of 14 minutes. Copenhagen is also well-connected to the rest of Europe through the extensive highway and railway network, as well as the Öresund Bridge, which provides easy road and train access to Sweden.

Tivoli Gardens

Founded in 1843, Tivoli is one of the world’s oldest amusement parks, with its magical atmosphere and a unique location, situated in the very heart of Copenhagen, next to the central station. A stroll through Tivoli takes you to a world of flowered gardens, coloured lights, and entertainment galore.

National Gallery

Also known as SMK, this gallery is Denmark’s principal art museum. The collections date back to the 16th century, including the Dutch-inspired 17th century and Danish 19th century, emphasising the Danish golden age. They also include international and Danish art from the breakthrough of modern art to contemporary art.

Amalienborg Palace

Copenhagen is the seat of Europe’s oldest monarchy, and probably the most popular, too. King Frederik X conducts his royal affairs here, across from The Royal Danish Opera House. Right by the Palace, you will see the stunning Marble Church, which was commenced in 1749.

Canal Tour

Especially during summer, a canal tour is the perfect way to experience the city. Be your own captain on a solar-powered GoBoat, savour a glass of wine while being guided on a Hey Captain trip, or go traditional on a live-guided canal tour.

Bicycle Sightseeing

While generally mild, it can be breezy, and sporadic rain is common. Packing layers is essential as daily temperatures can range from 8 degrees C (46 F) to ver 20 degrees C (68 F).

Money

The official currency in Copenhagen, Denmark, is the Danish krone (DKK), plural kroner, which is divided into 100 øre. While some tourist places accept Euros, the exchange rate may not be favorable. Denmark is nearly cashless, so card or mobile payments (Apple Pay/MobilePay) are preferred, and many places do not accept cash
